Amelia’s Biography

Amelia Rodriguez

Founder &CEO of Vocalink Language Services

Amelia Rodriguez will admit that she would rather blaze her own trail than stay on a path already explored by someone else. However, knowing Amelia’s love of music she would prefer that she “marches to the beat of her own drum.”  Her love of adventure, travel, and culture inspired Vocalink Language Services, the company she’s owned and operated for more than a decade. Vocalink Language Services enables her to do what she enjoys most: follow her heart. Vocalink enables Amelia to create jobs for Interpreters and Translators, and other positions not only in the community, but all around the world.

Amelia, a native of Peru, emigrated to the United States with her family as a child.  She always had an ambition to be an interpreter because she knew what it was like to be an outsider and not understand what others were saying.  Amelia saw interpreting and translating as a way of connecting people through language.  She was so sure of herself and her dreams at age 13, she told her mom her career plans of becoming a interpreter.  Amelia studied at Michigan State University, with and emphasis in Spanish and French languages.  For over a decade, Amelia has been a successful entrepreneur; first as a freelance interpreter and now as the Founder and CEO of Vocalink Language Services, an interpretation and translation company.

Vocalink is a privately held, certified minority and woman-owned company, funded in 1995.  It provides many interpretation services, translation services, language assessments, and company training and development. Vocalink provides support for companies that are targeting ethnic and global markets.  It is Amelia’s extensive business savvy and commitment to client relations that has grown the company from one entrepreneur’s dream to the full-time employment of fourteen employees.  Vocalink also employs over one hundred contract employees worldwide.  Vocalink has consistently enjoyed substantial growth in its revenues and client-base since it’s founding in 1995.  Today, Vocalink is a leader in the language service provider industry.  They have a diverse professional and ethnic base that has granted them a wide range of industry experience and contracts, including numerous connections to financial, healthcare, high tech, and insurance communities, to provide linguistic solutions for companies worldwide.

It is Amelia’s achievements in the business world that have earned her selection as a 2009 Women’s Business Enterprise Star representing the Ohio River Valley.  In 2006, Amelia was recognized by DiversityBusiness.com as having one of the top 50 woman-owned businesses.  Amelia has also merited recognition by National City Bank as the Small Business Owner of the Month for November 2004.
